General:
- DO NOT DOUBLE STACK PALLETS.
- Ventilate units under cover to prevent condensation.
- Prevent contact with dirt, splashing or other damage.
- Examine units prior to installation, do not install unacceptable units.
- Protect RockCast corners and edges during handling and installation to prevent chipping, cracking or other damage.
- Long units must be handled at the center and both ends simultaneously to prevent cracking.
Installation:
- RockCast can be installed using either Type N or Type S mortar (refer to product specifications).
- RockCast must be installed according to ASTM masonry specifications and within the guidelines of local building codes.
- Product should be pulled from multiple cubes during installation to minimize variation in color and help in natural blending.
- RockCast, like all concrete masonry products, may shrink slightly with the loss of moisture, therefore, the use of elastic (control) joints is highly recommended. Refer to NCMA TEK Bulletins 10-1A, 10-2B and 5-2A for guidelines.
- Refer to NCMA TEK Bulletin 3-6B for proper veneer anchoring.
- Select RockCast units in a full bed of mortar.
- Protect RockCast units after being installed for splashing, mortar and damage from other trades.
Cleaning:
- RockCast can be cleaned by wetting down the surface before using Sure Klean Custom Masonry Cleaner (follow manufacturer’s directions), brush, and rinse off. Do not use muriatic acid. Do not use pressure washing methods to clean units. Harsh cleaning methods might mar the surface or alter the appearance of units.
- Remove excess mortar immediately.
- Repair obvious chips with touchup material furnished by RockCast. Trial patch should be approved before general patching begins. Call 800.482.6466 to request patch kit material.
